Facial implants, such as cheek and chin implants, are an excellent option for patients seeking more balance and symmetry to enhance a youthful appearance. Both implants strengthen the features of the face and can provide as dramatic of results as desired. Dr. Lansford will choose an implant based on what is best for the patient.
Types of Facial Implants
Chin and midface augmentation with anatomic-style soft Silastic facial implants is performed to correct skeletal and soft tissue deficiencies that result in aesthetic facial disharmony. Whether the cause is developmental, or the result of disease or trauma, a remarkable, permanent improvement can often be achieved with facial implants.
Inconspicuous incisions under the chin and inside the mouth are used, typically with sedation or general anesthesia, and recovery for return to work or most normal activities is brief—often only a few days—to allow for reduction of initial swelling.
Pain is usually minimal and resolves quickly, but some temporary numbness may last for weeks. A consultation with supplemental computer imagery is most helpful, and all risks, benefits and costs are discussed with your surgeon at that time.
